Annie Leibovitz

The next few posts were queued for next week, but since they have to be posted by tonight, they're getting posted now instead.

I absolutely LOVE Annie Leibovitz's pictures. I really like her style and the sort of softness that her photographs have, as well as the color palette. From what I have read in her interviews or quotes I like what she has to say about photography and about the people that she photographed. I relate to some of what she has said about photographers in general, about how they aren't as social because they're lazy or behind the camera you can forget that you're even part of the image.

This was the last professional photograph taken of John Lennon before his death. In a piece that I read she said that she promised Lennon that the picture would be on the cover and it was.

In an interview Annie Leibovitz said this that was her favorite picture that she had taken. It was taken when she was on tour with the Rolling Stones.

This photograph caused a lot of controversy when it came out because Miley Cyrus was still underage and working for Disney at the time. It upset a lot of parents. I remember when the photo was released, I was probably twelve or so and I can even remember it being a big deal.

Before I knew who Annie Leibovitz was I had seen these pictures and I recognized the style from the Les Miserables photo shoot. I really like these pictures though. She was commissioned by Disney for "A Year of a Million Dreams" to photograph celebrities as Disney characters.
