For our final vis comm project we had to pick a book to design the cover of. The two that I most wanted to do were The Wonderful Wizard of Oz or The Hobbit. I don't know much about The Wonderful Wizard of Oz as a book versus the movie except for that the shoes are silver in book instead of ruby. They made them ruby in the film because of technicolor or something like that, which was a cool idea but no one really knows that they changed it so I think it's a cool little fun fact. I really like The Hobbit, I enjoy reading it because it is a fun little book with weird sayings and made up ideas to fit the likes of Hobbits and Bilbo Baggins. I chose to do The Wonderful Wizard of Oz though because I was afraid that I would be influenced too much by recent propaganda from The Hobbit films. I'm not done with the cover, but this is what I have so far.
I decided that I didn't like how it was going and this week and weekend I'm going to draw it out and scan it in and fiddle with it with my tablet because I feel like that is a better idea than trying to manipulate images into what I want versus just drawing them out.
